2026 Convention Pictures Uploaded

You can now view all of the pictures that are awesome club photographers Jim Whobrey and Chuck Gajewski took at the convention.  Many thanks to both of them for the hours and hours they spend memorializing our event each year.  And an extra special thanks to Jim for the artistic editing magic he performs on each and every photo before we get to see them.  We all look more lovely than we deserve.

Why not try to put a name to a photo so new members can put a name with a face?

If you would like to volunteer to look through all of the photos, change the file names to include the names of everyone in each photo, or use an EXIF modification, or pay for an image galleries program that is designed to add attached comments, other information, and then do the work to input all of that, you were officially be granted club hero status.

Google used to have a program called Picasa that would scan through entire directories of images, placing identifiable faces into the same folder. They stopped offering it, likely because people were using it for general facial recognition of random people. In other words, privacy concerns which apply here as well. Even though attendees may have no right to privacy because they are in "public", we should still be mindful not to simply publish people's names without their permission.

There's enough people borrowing images and mining data online without consent as it is. People on eBay, Etsy, website, and others do this, but they also probably spend an inordinate amount of time telling people to knock it off and, speaking on behalf of Mike Brodeur and myself, we don't want to add more work, managing the club's tech than we already have.

Seriously, it is a lot of work and would require getting permission (in my view) to do this.
