Does anyone know anything about this Harvey's Wagon Wheel $5 Lake Tahoe chip? It appears to have been intentionally notched or cut around the edges. Was this a casino cancellation method? I'd also love to know the approximate date, specific issue/variety, rarity, and value. Any information about this chip or why it was altered would be greatly appreciated.
The chip you show was in play at Harvey's Lake Tahoe in 1973, according to this listing on the ChipGuide:

Casinos don't use a severe trimming like that to cancel a chip. Instead, it was likely reshaped to fit inside a bezel. Possibly a money club with a triangular shape, or my guess is for a bolo tie with a triangular bezel.
In that condition (pretty worn) and the significant trims on 3 sides, I don't think the value would be too much. Sorry. (It's an interesting "story" piece, but that's about all IMO.)
