Hi, can anyone give me any information on this casino safe?
I'm not sure which casino it came from, or whether it is something anyone would collect.
Any comments are appreciated. Thank you.
I don't know anything about it, but are there markings or name(s) on it that make you think it was associated with a casino ... rather than another type of business?
I'm not aware of anyone that specializes in collecting casino safes, unless it could be associated with a specific (notorious?) casino.
Sorry I couldn't help.
That is okay, thank you for your reply. There are no markings on it.
The previous owner worked in the casino industry here in Las Vegas. He collected a lot of casino memorabilia and had several things that came out of old casinos.
Anyway, thank you for the response, any suggestions on collecting, researching, or such, would be greatly appreciated, my teenage boys and I are new to this.
We currently have casino chips, tokens, demo chips, old photos, playing cards, and other such items from casinos, or casino/poker related.
Thank you. 😊
It sounds like you and your boys would enjoy being members of our club - the Casino Collectibles Association, or CCA for short. It's a national (and some international) group of about 800+ hobbyists that collect all the things you mentioned. We have an annual convention in Las Vegas in June that I think you would enjoy attending.
There are research materials out there - check out the ChipGuide website, which is part of the MoGH (Museum of Gaming History), which is part of the CCA. All non-profit educational organizations. See: https://chipguide.themogh.org
Basically, we like to collect casino-related things, and we like to learn about the history related to it. For Nevada, and Las Vegas where you are, there's LOTS of history to make your items even more interesting. If you do join the CCA, let them know I referred you (but not required).
You can see a lot (for free) on that website, but for the advanced search features, you need to be a member of the CCA. You can join right on this CCA website. Membership is just $40 a year, and if you want your boys to be Associate Members, it's just $7 per year each (but that's optional). See: https://ccgtcc.com/membership/index.aspx
I can recommend a few books if you're interested in going that way.
One final thought - you might want to post your casino safe pics on another website where "chippers" hang out. Maybe someone there could help identify it. Go to: http://www.thechipboard.com
Welcome and Good Luck! :D
