One of the things everyone does, but few people talk about, is how they organize their collection.
I've been using a spreadsheet, but it's very limiting. A few years ago I started using the MyCollection feature of the ChipGuide. It's super convenient to add things, but limited in its current form (no place to note buy prices or values, for example).
I recently purchased Collectors Assistant. Its very advanced, but I need to take some time on how best to configure and use it.
I'm thinking of writing a club article about how to organize your collection.
