I'm currently on vacation in Mexico, but before too much time passes, I wanted to do a quick thank you to everyone, especially all of the volunteers, that made this year's convention a success. I appreciate all good wishes everyone offered me as the incoming new president of the club.
A special thank you to David Spragg, of course, for his 14 years of board service. Due to a mixup with the moving company that didn't show up to take our stuff to storage, I missed much of David's presentation at the volunteer dinner, but what I was able to see was very interesting (early Burt and other companies' items).
For those of you who were disappointed in the poker tournament structure, I can assure you it won't happen next year. I believe it was an honest mistake due to a misunderstanding by Southpoint staff about a request that was made to keep the game from running until the wee hours of the morning. They clearly overshot on that one.
I felt like I took a ton of selfies with as many people as possible but as I scanned through them this morning, I can see that I missed many of the people I visited with. I'll post mine in a separate message. I'm sure that Chuck Gajewski's and Jim Whobrey's photos will fill the gaps. Next time you see Chuck, ask him about the time I saved his life at the convention, LOL.
As promised in my remarks at the Business Meeting, I will endeavor to publish the minutes in the next day or so (not sure if they need to be "approved" by the board first).
I returned to Las Vegas next weekend, and we'll get started on inventorying the club's storage units. Rob Lang has agreed to help out for three days, and if anyone else would like to assist me while I'm in town, let me know. Contact info below.
I will post the remarks I made at the business meeting separately, and you all can support or decry my stated intentions there. I have a great many goals to improve the club and I hope to gain your support, both mentally as well as physically helping, in getting them done.
And lastly, I want to thank all the members of the club for not quitting en masse when you heard I was going to be your next President, haha!
Until next time, take care.
