Honestly, I have no idea why so many on the Chip Board resist a new structure. This is nice, Barry!
I think the problem is, people are comfortable with what they know and that means, unwilling to change. The old BB could be saved and archived, just like it is now, so nothing would be lost.
What a new forum would do is give people the ability to have topics and subjects and better organize the entire experience. That means a section for dice, slots, ashtray, slot cards, titos or anything else, that puts it where someone interested can find what they want, instead of a big bag that holds everything.
The threading is better and messages, follow, instead of getting scattered and divided.
The newer systems have registration that prevents the spam messages that fill older BBs. Less work for the people who monitor and moderate the forum.
The software is free, it's updated, there are other modules for features, and something that is more secure, instead of people giving out their email address? PM which is Private Mail on the forum for private communications.
All of the assorted other BBs, which are one long, convoluted string of messages, could be included as special interest sections. Any registered domain names can easily be configured to point to the same place. The Chip Guide and be what it is, in it own wonderful way, as a link.
And personally, more modern might attract more people, maybe some new people, maybe some new club members.
Mostly though, easy navigation, organized subjects and topics, would be better for everyone.
I like this site and I'll use it, but I'm old school and I hope TCB stays the way it is.

I guess it's my job to drag you kicking and screaming into the new age, then, eh? ;D Thanks for signing up and for your suggestion, which I'll add to the suggestion box.
Hey Barry, Like what you've done with the place. Keep up the great work and keep chasing those $5's!

Haha! I have you to thank for one of the rarest $5s there are. I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad to see you on here. Take care, and if you have any suggestions or gripes about these forums, hit the suggestion box under the club discussion category. Or just message/email me.
