Just so members of the chipboard and the CCA can see what a modern discussion board could look like, here you go. You're welcome.
Thanks Barry! We can always use another place to talk about chips! ;D Just curious, as an ISP, do you host this site on one of your servers? AWS? Azure? The Google? Thanks!
Hi all! Looking forward to another venue to learn about chips (and maybe some other stuff) ;D
Hi everyone, this is Reggie just looking around at Barry's new offering. I will try to offer some neat stuff to look at and any insight I feel qualified to give. Thanks, Barry for giving this a try.
Reggie
This looks very nice. I did have a hard time finding the "logon" button - found it when I tried to look at your profile entry. I think the "Post" and "Reply" buttons didn't become visible until I was logged on. Seems like there should be a Logon button on the home page. Please feel free to ignore all my suggestion since as my UserId implies I;m kinda old and a slow learner. Good luck with your efforts - change is hard....

It's AWS with cPanel/WHM.
Login button is right at the top. See pic.

I forgot to address the rest of your post. First of all, thank you for the compliment. It's just a beginning and I'm sure I'll have my hands full tweaking it to be what the users like. As to your feedback...
I think I addressed the login button. It's at the VERY tippy top of the screen, so you may have to scroll up to see it. Once you're logged in, the button goes away and is replaced with a drop-down menu with your name on it. Inside that, there's a logout button which, after you click it, naturally makes the login button reappear. If I'm misunderstanding what you're describing, post a reply with a screenshot so I can see it.
The post/reply buttons only show up after login because I limit activity to registered users who are logged in. Until then, you're a guest and there's not much guests can see. I'll add some content for guests in a bit, mostly just information to entice them to register so they can see the main content and participate with the rest of us, but there could certainly be SOMETHING we can publish that would be of benefit to lurkers. Restricting access to registered users will prevent ALL OF THE SPAM we currently suffer with on the chipboard site. Since I currently have to approve each registration, it's not likely that a spammer is going to sneak in. I've also created a membergroup called "CCA" which will contain CCA members only. I haven't figured out what I would possibly restrict to just CCA members, but I think it's worth creating the distinction, if for no other reason than I can offer a cool badge or something for members to display in their profile for a snob effect of sorts.
just testing
Holy cow am I glad to see this place. Welcome to the 21st century collectable chip enthusiasts!
My name is Tom, I collect casino chips from Washington State, casino's I visit, and really any chips that strike me as interesting. For example, my most recent purchase was of the 6 Monte Carlo (L.V.) beer chips. I had a set of them back in the day but they wee used and I ended up cashing them in at the casino... And by cashing them in, I mean throwing them down on the roulette table while I was out there. Anyway, I just got them again last week and couldn't be happier. Now I just need the matching Silver Strikes!
Oh yeah, I also collect playable sets of casino chips for poker home games. If you know that site, you'll know me as ChipEnvy. ;D
I'll post this and then try to edit in a picture of the Monte Carlo Beer Chips.

Hi Tom. Welcome to the board and thank you for posting your bio. Let me know if you have trouble posting images. I've been running into a spot of trouble with that myself, and am trying to figure out if it's my computer/browser, the forum software, or something else. This site is a work in progress, so I might even end up changing the software used (but I should be able to migrate everyone so they don't have to re-create their accounts).
Confused...you have said you created this just to show people what a site is like...so this is all a beta test and will get shut down by you (which I understand, this takes time and effort)? But it would have been nice if we knew this was not a real site.

It's absolutely a real site (I paid to register the domain and everything). My hope is that chipboard.com or CCGTCC.com or better yet, both, will point here. It's not going away at all. Especially if those in charge of the other sites don't effect changes that nearly every member wants and many have been asking for for years. It's a wake up call. But know this, your registration isn't for nought. Nothing is getting shut down.
P.S. keep on posting. Thanks for participating.
tks for the reply
Barry, if you are still pursuing the auction idea see my note to you on the chipboard, it may be worthwhile to track down all those involved
